June 2011 In This Issue -- Lake Tenkiller Update -- Don't Become A Red Dot On A Map! -- Sallisaw's Diamond Daze Festival -- Area Events -- Fishing Report -- Team Tenkiller -- Tenkiller New Homes Greetings from Lake Tenkiller Lots of things are happening in the Lake Tenkiller area, and we would like to share a little of it with you. Thanks so much for being one of the 1800+ subscribers! We Love Lake Tenkiller! Celebrating 11 years of Service to the area. While our immediate thoughts may be with what is happening on our favorite lake and river, our hearts are with the folks in Joplin and Tuscaloosa, and all our neighbors that are suffering from the weather that has taken place. A personal note from me: several decades ago, I experienced the tragedy of a neighborhood tornado, nothing to the extreme that has happened recently, but housed a neighbor for some time, which was one of several, that had lost their home. Spending that first night without utilities and waking up cold and empty hearted, one of this first things for us to see that morning as we ventured out, was a Red Cross truck, serving hot coffee and breakfast to all in need. I have always remembered that is one of the best breakfasts I have ever had in my life, and is just one of the many things that Red Cross does to help our neighbors. Thank you Red Cross. Mother Nature is not showing us any love right now. On Monday of this week, the lake was at a low of 5 ft above normal, the Corp was busy cleaning campgrounds, marina owners were getting ready for the holiday weekend, things were looking up. With the heavy rains that have happened since Monday, the lake is at 15 feet above normal and rising (Thursday May 26, 10am). Our suggestion to you if you are planning on coming to the area, is to try and call ahead to the business to get an update. To our knowledge, everyone will be OPEN. Click here for the most current list of business phone numbers we know of. Camping or putting a boat in the water? See the list to call |

the State Park and Corp office for updates. The highway crossing the dam will be limited to one lane because of painting. Have a safe Holiday weekend. Some interesting factoids on Tenkiller for the storm April 24-29
