Written by John Lang Burnt Cabin Marina and Resort is tucked away in the largest cove on Lake Tenkiller. The Corps of Engineers purposely did not "clear" the trees from this cove, and as I can attest, some of the best fishing at Tenkiller can be found north of the marina and resort. Owned by Rick & Donna Parker since 2002, they have continued to improve their operation year by year. |

Bunrt Cabin Marina features a paved parking area, 3 lanes to launch your watercraft at no charge, cabins and adjoining campground, and over 60 covered slips Donna tells me that their restaurant, The "Submarina" will open for weekends in May, and normal hours after Memorial Day will be 8-7 weekdays and 8-8 on weekends. Written by John Ellis As of May 29, the water level was 633.3 feet, compared to normal pool at 632 feet. It dropped a couple of feet over the last week through generation of electricity. With the scattered rain that has been in the area, there should not be any significant change in the level. |
|
Water clarity was exceptionally good in the lower part of the lake earlier this year, however the rains have reduced it some. Shoreline water clarity has also been reduced with the heavy boat traffic over the Memorial Day weekend. Surface water temperature is in the mid to upper 70's and rising slowly. The thermocline is just starting to set up in the deeper water at around 65-70 feet. Fishing has been spotty with the frequent fronts that have moved through the area. Two weeks ago, sand bass were really going after the shad on the surface just before dark west of Skunk Island, however there hasn't been much action since. Crappie and spotted bass, as well as an occasional sandy, can be caught trolling small crankbaits along the shore in the early mornings and evenings
