A new bait shop to open in Cookson? No, not really. Ike's is a concept that Dwight has been planning to use for quite some time. A recent change up in personnel just pushed the idea to the front burner a little sooner than anticipated.

When the doors of Stampede's reopen on July 2, it will have a new name - Ike's Bait Shop. Leave it to Dwight to come up with a new concept of cooking and serving bait. Everything will be served family style and the menu will continue to have his wonderful chicken, catfish, and barbecue. Later on he will add the popular prime rib. The menu is designed for

Dwight and Justin to be able to run the eatery without so much dependence on hired help. They are no different than the rest of us. As the times get harder, and they are going to get harder, everyone is going to have to tighten their belts and hold on until our economy decides to settle down. The guys just want you to know that they will continue to serve good food, just a little differently. Be sure to go by and check them out.

John Ellis, GTAA President introduced the guest speaker -- Hardy Watkins - Executive Director, Oklahoma Tourism & Recreation Department. Hardy gave an interesting talk, saying that tourism brings $5.3 billion

to Oklahoma's economy every year. Tourism is the 3rd leading industry in Oklahoma. Hardy talked about the many diverse activities that are available in Oklahoma - from scuba diving to spelunking; from dune buggy riding to hot air ballooning. Hardy spoke of Lake Tenkiller as being the clear water jewel in Eastern Oklahoma highlighting the Scuba Diving Park, commenting on the phrase, WHY Scuba in Aruba?

Mr Watkins also commented on the State's Tourism numbers being up approximately 20%. He felt that the increase in gas costs were generating the higher numbers for state tourism economics.

In its May 2008 issue, Entrepreneur compiled this list with the help of research provider CentrisPoint and its database of 21 million U.S. businesses. Of the nearly 21 million companies on the preliminary list, only 0.3% made the first cut, and just a fraction of those made it to the Hot 100, including TenkillerProperty.com
