Harris Attends New Resort & Second Home Course ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |

George Harris, Broker with Tenkiller Property.com, traveled to Vail, Colorado and took the Resort and Second Home Markets Course produced by the National Association of Realtors. The world class course is designed to teach the essentials of buying, selling, and managing resort properties and second homes for recreation, investment, and development by U.S. and International clients and customers in the United States. This two-day core course focused on the knowledge and skill base that real estate |

professionals need to specialize in buying, selling, or managing second homes in a resort, recreational, and/or vacation destination and properties for investment, development, or retirement. "The new program recognizes the growth in areas such as Lake Tenkiller." Harris stated. "The Lake Tenkiller Market and its growth of second home and retirement buyers has never been stronger and savvy buyers increasingly demand the expertise of real estate professionals with proven knowledge of resort and second home market conditions." A 2006 NAR study showed substantial growth in the second-home market. The study indicated that Investment property and vacation homes make up a significant portion of the overall housing market, accounting for more than one-third of residential transactions. Acquiring a second home has grown in popularity over the last 10 years and in particular since 2003. Sales of second homes increased 16 percent in 2004 from the year before. NAR also estimates that 36 percent of buyers who purchased a second home bought a property that was more than 100 miles away from their primary residence. Harris added, "With our Lake Tenkiller Market reflecting the same growth, I am glad that I had the opportunity to take the course, and share with my staff this knowledge, so that we all can serve the community as experts in a unique market and truly be specialists in what we do."

A look back to the first Cookson Jubilee in 1975 will bring memories of hometown talent, political speeches and the Miss Lake Tenkiller beauty pageant, which will be revived this year. In addition, entrance to the Jubilee on Friday will be FREE. The only charge will be a $5.00 parking fee for each vehicle. Bill Payne's radio stations KEOK 1350, KTLQ 101.7, KTFX 102.1 and KFOX 102.5, will again present Saturday's entertainment. This will be the Annual Listener Appreciation Show and tickets are free. To secure your FREE tickets listen to the aforementioned radio stations for participating business where tickets are available. (Without a ticket, the entrance fee is $20.00 per person) Jason Meadows, up and coming new Nashville talent, will be the featured entertainer for Saturday's shows. In addition to great musical entertainment, there will be top-drawer arts and crafts vendors; lots of good food such as Cook Shack Barbeque, Just Desserts, other "festival foods and drinks;" and fun and games for "tots to teens." Another revival event will be a raffle for a cruise. This will be a Mexico Cruise for two aboard the Carnival Fantasy - December 10-16, 2007. Raffle tickets are $5.00 each and may be purchase from TACO President Gene Fabry at E Fabry & Associates in Cookson, OK (918/457-3900), Cruise Directors Steve & Nancy Tharp (918/457-4044) or at the Information Booth at the Jubilee. With so much to offer, you won't want to miss "Celebrate Oklahoma: 1907 - 2007". Come out and enjoy a "good old-fashioned time" visiting with friends, shopping for unique arts and crafts, and enjoying great entertainment and good food.
