Foreclosed homes dropped nearly 21.5 percent nationwide in September over August, according to ForeclosureS.com, which has been analyzing and publishing real estate and foreclosure data for more than 20 years. We are not seeing an excessive amount of foreclosures in the Tenkiller Area. The story from a NAR press release- The vast majority of metropolitan areas showed rising or stable home prices in the third quarter with most experiencing modest gains compared with a year earlier, despite a broad decline in existing-home sales, according to the latest quarterly survey by the National Association of Realtors®. The story from what we are seeing in Eastern Oklahoma and the Lake Tenkiller Area is home prices remaining steady to 10% in increasing values. We personally had another spectacular year in sales, and we are so thankful for that. So if your thoughts this holiday season is to invest in our beautiful area, be comforted, in my opinion, you can't go wrong. Now back to the REAL story And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. Luke, Chapter 2

By George Harris That's the REAL story this month, the second story is real estate is just fine in Eastern Oklahoma and for that matter, the Nation. The national media and spin-doctors are having a field day, why??? I do not know, I guess it use to sale newspapers, but I would not think that is the agenda these days. The story in foreclosures today is NOT what's up; it's what's down! |

Every year, the Greater Tenkiller Area Association (GTAA ) and Tenkiller Area Community Organization (TACO) sponsor a Christmas for Kids campaign. We take donations from people who want to provide toys and clothing for underprivileged children for Christmas. We work with a grade school in the Tenkiller area to get the names and ages of children who are |
|
needy and find out exactly what they need. Then, with this information, volunteers go to Wal- Mart to buy toys and clothing for these children. Last year TACO and GTAA together raised over $2000 for this campaign and with your help hope to do even better this year. TACO will purchase and deliver the items to the parents of the children. Many of you last year donated $100 each and we put that money to good use. Any amount will help, however. There were more than 100 children in 35 different families who were needy last year, and we expect about that many this year, too. Please send your checks to: GTAA Christmas for Kids PO Box 10-K Cookson, OK 74427 God bless you and thanks in advance!

The water temperature is dropping down with the cool weather. Surface temperature on November 18th was 63 degrees. Water clarity on the lower end of the lake was good and the lake level was slightly above normal. Fishing has been slow all year for sand bass and largemouth bass, at least for me. Catfish are still an easy pick using shad on juglines. Crappie are starting to bite around the docks |

Most of the Water Watchers got re-certified recently. Terri Ussery hosted the group at Sixshooter Bed and Breakfast for a fishfry and re-certification get-together. Thanks Terri. Recently, Drew Edmondson, the Oklahoma Attorney General requested an injunction in Federal Court temporarily banning all land application of poultry waste in the Illinois River watershed. If granted, it will be a major step toward reducing the nutrient input into the lake and, perhaps, may get the poultry integrators to finally step up and assume responsibility for their wastes. One could hope anyway. John Ellis Tenkiller Water Watchers Fishing Report ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |

By Sharon Stratton I visited with Dwight and Justin recently about what was going on at Stampedes and they had a few things they wanted to share with those of you who haven't been in lately. They are announcing a House Special that consists of four smoked meats, fries, homemade potato salad and coleslaw for only $38.95. It is served family style and will feed 4-6 people. The portions at Stampedes is always generous, so I know it is a bargain. |
|
Their lunch menu is served between 11 am and 5 pm and includes a number of lunches under $5. They will also feature homemade soup and sandwiches or salads during the winter months. The Wedge is a wedge of iceberg lettuce and tomatoes drizzled with blue cheese dressing, then topped with crisp smoky bacon bits, blue cheese crumbles, red onions and fresh chopped parsley for only $5.95. You can still get a good house salad for only $2.50. Their menu also includes shrimp, rib, fried chicken and catfish baskets. Of course they will continue to offer steaks and a delicious seafood platter guaranteed to please the fish lover. Beginning the second week in November they will be open for breakfast at 7 a.m. I understand if you like Belgium Waffles you are in for a treat. Other goodies including a variety of cappucino coffees will also be served. Stampedes never forgets the kids. On Wednesday and Thursday kids under 5 eat free and others can order any kid sized entree (except steaks) on the menu for only $3.95. So you can see there are changes. Be sure to stop by and see Dwight and Justin and tell them you saw it in Totally Tenkiller News! For more information, call 457-3600 and check out their ads on pages 2 and 3 of TTN.
